On Friday, June 4th,
2004 Officer Mark Sawyers of the Sterling Heights (Michigan) Police
Department was shot while sitting in his police car entering a traffic
report into his computer. He died the following morning as a result.
The killer shot Mark with a shotgun and then proceeded to steal his
service revolver and take off. The killing was senseless and tragic.
The murderer is still at large today.
Police have identified a suspect and based on bank surveillance cameras
believe Timothy Berner was stalking officers, waiting for his moment to
commit this awful crime. Why? Because he is believed to be robbing
banks and was finding his shotgun too cumbersome.
This is the reason this man thought was good enough to rob a man of his
life. Mark was 30 years old, happily married and the father of a baby
girl nearing her first birthday. He was loved by all that knew him.
Attached is a picture of the suspect, Timothy Berner. Could you please
pass this on to every person in your address book? Tim Berner was
featured on America's Most Wanted on June 12, 2004, but so far this
hasn't led to his arrest. Hopefully we can spread his face around the
country (and beyond), to those who live in and out of Michigan. All it
will take is it reaching the ONE person who can give the police the tip
they need to nail this guy. Please help do what we can in order to help
the police put to justice the man who killed Mark, a wonderful man who
died way too young. |
